A charming rhyming picture book with holes on every other page that allow the reader to peep into the next scene of the story before turning over to reveal the whole spread. It follows a baby through his day from waking in his cot and playing in the park with his sisters to getting a goodnight kiss from his father.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Another classic from Janet & Allan Ahlberg, PeePo! was first published in 1981 and has delighted parents and toddles ever since. Peepo! has so many elements guaranteed to appeal to young children - rhyme, repetition and the inclusion of every day objectives. The story not only centres on the day and life of a little baby, but also allows us to really see things through his eyes--with a circle cut out of the pages allowing both the storybook baby and young readers to "peek" through to life on the next page.
Peepo! is set in the 1940s, giving us a nostalgic look at a time gone by--complete with tin baths, coal sheds and hot porridge. The family life described is happy, warm and loving. The illustration style is suitably 1940's and also very full. The verse often refers to objects hidden deep within the illustration which children will love seeking out. (Ages 1 to 5 years.) --Victoria MacKenzie

Suitable from about 14 months
I bought this book for my book loving baby when she was 7 months. She showed no interest in it, in fact pushed it away. She is now 16 months and it is her favourite book. She sits still while I read it and will repeat words she recognises like "ball", "teddy", "peepo". She loves the pictures. It is a super soothing book to read at bed time too!
Fabulous!
Children of all ages will love this book(Both mine did from babies). It is definitely preschool but with its fabulous illustrations and rhyming text this is a really incredible book for children. They gain so much from it, it is incredible to watch. They will interact with you, they learn to read and my four year old has actually started asking when it was set and asking about "the olden days".
If this is not already in your children's collection then buy it(you might need a spare as they really will read it to death!)
An enduring and faithful friend
This book rapidly became my son's favourite at twelve months and remains so eighteen months later. In fact we are on our second copy as the first became too dog-eared with use and too mucky as my son insists on kissing the baby in the story goodnight! The coherent storybook is beautifully illustrated with the added bonus of activity and fun with "peepo". The Ahlbergs have an exceptional talent for finding the right level to pitch a story whilst still providing lots of interest for the child with the text and lots of scope for development through the complexity of the pictures. My only problem has been explaining some of the dated (its set in the 1940s) terms such as "hairnet" and "bucket full of coal"! If your child likes this format you should also try "Each Peach Pear Plum" from the same author and illustrator.
