Product Description

Bert has all sorts of ridiculous adventures and they're told in this book in a slapstick, almost farcical way. The reader is made to feel part of the story when he/she is told to turn the page quietly so as not to wake Bert's baby, and is blamed when the baby starts to cry. Bert rescues a barking cardboard box from the river, is chased down the street by a giant sausage - and much more.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
The Adventures of Bert is the result of the collaboration between Allan Ahlberg (Peepo!, Please Mrs Butler, The Jolly Postman) and Raymond Briggs (The Snowman, Fungus the Bogeyman, Ug.

These two children's books heavyweights have each notched up a number of classics, and with The Adventures of Bert it looks like together they may have come up trumps once again.

Bert is a sublimely comic, hapless and harmless nincompoop, married to the long-suffering Mrs Bert and father to (though goodness knows how he managed it!) Baby Bert. Bert is just a little bit accident prone: ask him to try on a shirt and he'll end up in the back of a lorry (don't ask). Give him a cardboard box (again, don't ask), and somehow he will end up nearly drowning in a river. And if by any chance he should see a sausage...

Simple text, which cleverly encourages interaction, and bold illustration combine in a simply superb, utterly riotous picture book about a large, lovable noodlehead with instant appeal to both children and adults. An absolute must read for any age group. (Age 3 and over) --Susan Harrison

Fun, wonderfully illustrated, interactive book for children5
A must have for anyone with a toddler upwards. The Adventures of Bert surpasses the majority of childrens books with its lively illustrations, simple funny text and loveble characters with which children easily empathise. Allan Ahlberg and Raymond Briggs have succeeded again in injecting their recogniseable humour into 'Bert'and has incorporated a story line encouraging interaction which has my child squealing with delight and eager to read it again and again.Definately one of our favourites and fun for adults too.

Bert - FANTASTIC!5
'the adventures of bert' and 'a bit more bert' are my favourite childrens books. fantastic illustrations, good stories but most of all hilarious - and a good tool in teaching the kids to have a sense of humour.
