A stunning new picture book from Eric Carle about Mister Seahorse and other 'male mothers', with special acetate pages that hide fish behind rocks and reeds. As he floats through the sea, Mister Seahorse meets a Mr Stickleback, Mr Tilapia, Mr Kurtus and many other fish fathers caring for their eggs and babies in the most surprising ways.

Customer Reviews
A beautifully illustrated visit underwater, with an emphasis on Dads caring for their young
This is a beautiful book with acetate interspersed for lovely effect. Interesting fish like the lion fish, the leaf fish and the stone fish are each cleverly camouflaged behind the clear pages. Mr Seahorse dawdles along with his pouch full of seahorse eggs and meets many other underwater Dads looking after their own broods: for example, the Tilapia guards his eggs in his mouth, the Pipe fish has the eggs along his tummy, and Mr Kurtus has eggs stuck on the top of his head which my children think is hysterically funny. A great book to show that mummy doesn't have to be the nurturing parent.
Wonderful
Eric Carle is a genius. This may be his best book. I strongly recommend this book to parents of pre-school children. It is illustrated beautifully, with the original and engaging touches we expect from this author. And it has a captivating story that kids will love to hear, over and over again.
