About the Author
Katharine Holabird went to Bennington College in Vermont, USA, and spent three years as a journalist in Italy. She has been writing the Angelina books since 1983 and now lives in London with her family. Helen Craig is one of the UK's most successful children's book illustrators. She became an apprentice photographer aged sixteen and went on to set up her own studio. Helen has illustrated over sixty children's books. She lives in Cambridge.

highly recommended bedtime story for 3-4 year olds
It's Christmas time and Angelina, a young girl mouse, has been preparing the school christmas show. On her way home she sees an old man, alone and cold, in his cottage. At home she learns that it's the retired postman, Mr. Bell. She and her little cousin Henry decide to take something to him for christmas. This story is mercifully short and makes a good bedtime story for a 3 year old. The illustrations are delightful, sensitively capturing the expressions on the young and old mices' faces.

In this lovely Christmas tale, Angelina Ballerins encounters a lonely old man with few Christmas visitors and draws him into the local community for the holiday season.

By showing how the use of kindness and trying to involve others can bring down barriers and make others feel good about themselves, this sweet children's story encourages the young to think of others and shows how everybody can make someone feel wanted - Angelina making Mr Bell feel good, Mr Bell making Henry happier.

This is a simple but warming tale that will appeal to all fans of the increasingly popular Angelina. With timeless illustrations and a theme of respecting others and not excluding anyone from society, this may become an established Christmas treat.

A crowd pleaser for small girls with aspirations to balletic genius
As a parent my opinion is that Angelina is a nauseatingly self centred goody goody who always comes out of everything smelling of roses whilst her poor cousin Henry and best friend Alice drag along behind in the wake of her glory. The stories are old fashioned and highly moral and I dislike them intensely, preferring something like Milly Molly Mandy or My Naughty Little Sister any day of the week.

My children on the other hand, love Angelina dearly and think she and all her doings are absolutely marvellous. They particularly like the detailed illustrations and all the wonderful floaty outfits that Angelina gets to wear. The love this book and never tire of hearing it, even in the middle of summer. So, my opinion, great for kids but not for adults who have to read to kids.
