About the Author
Professor Timothy Darvill is Professor of Archaeology at Bournemouth University. Between 1982-5 he worked for the Western Archaeological Trust and the Council for British Archaeology. He was Secretary of the Committee for Archaeology in Gloucestershire, Secretary of CBA Group 13, and Chairman of the Institute of Field Archaeologists. He has been the director of Timothy Darvill Archaeological Consultants, specializing in the provision of archaeological input to major development
projects such as the Channel Tunnel landfill sites in Kent, and the Stonehenge Visitor's Centre in Wiltshire.
