Oh, God, not Headway
As an English teacher, I have to say that Headway is far from being the best book out there. Compared to Cutting Edge, Inside Out and Straightforward, the book is monotonous, the English is often outdated and utterly useless. Worst of all is that this book somehow maintains no. 1 position in the world of TEFL (probably because Directors of Studies don't like change), thus inflicting the agony of tedium on millions of innocent English students (not to mention teachers) across the world.

Old favourite revised and refreshed - now even better!
I thought the Headway series could not be improved upon - well it has been!
To be truthful the old series was getting tired - but new readings, listenings, and up-to-date material breath new life into this reliable course. Now more essential than ever!

Good books
I've been teaching on and off for 12 years across most of Asia and I've got nothing bad to say about these books. There are some teachers who feel that this set of books is out of date and somewhat irrelevant when teaching in Asia. I couldn't disagree more. `A bad workman blames his tools'. If you're a contentious and focussed educator, it really doesn't matter whether you're teaching something relevant to yesterday or ten years ago. These books are invaluable in teaching and practicing the 4 skills as well as grammar, pronunciation etc and are organised in a progressive and informative way. Well done Headway.
