Bargain buy for first time teachers!
The Oxford Basics series contains all the essentials for the newly qualified teacher and elementary learners. The books are organised into 30 useful topic areas eg. numbers, food and drink, describing people. Each book has the same format with units clearly laid out in the form of an actual lesson plan giving ideas for activities, checking comprehension, pronunciation points and follow-up activities. They have easy to copy pictures and a variety of exercises for each unit.

Having bought all five books in the series they did at first seem to repeat material, however because each book focuses on a different skill they complement each other. For less than the average cost of a single teaching book I'd recommend the complete series.

Simple Speaking Activities
I purchased this book in England a few weeks ago before moving to China to teach English for a couple of months. Haven't yet used any of the activities but hope to do so once teaching gets underway. There are some useful exercises in the book and, as the book says, they are SIMPLE and designed for elementary level. Should prove to be a helpful book for new teachers.
