Product Description
With around one million species, insects are the most successful animals to have evolved on earth. Yet much of their biology continues to remain a mystery. Christopher O'Toole has compiled a superbly illustrated and definitive work on insects, spiders, and millipedes combining easy to read articles by distinguished entomologists with outstanding photographs and specially commissioned artwork, making this encyclopedia an authoritative and accessible work on the 'mini-beasts' of our
planet.

Customer Reviews
Superb overview of the insect world
I have a collection of books on insects & spiders but this one is the best yet. I ordered it blind, never having seen it or a review of it and was absolutely delighted. In addition to having original and marvellous pictures with great depth of field (how do they do that?) the text is of the highest standard and is just jam packed with information written almost at an academic level. It is quiet a large book (slightly larger than A4) with 240 pages and is truly excellent value. I can't recommend it highly enough.
insects
This excellent book which is the work of 23 contributors deals with arthropods(millipedes and centipedes),insects(32 species including lice, wasps, butterflies, cockroaches etc.) and arachnids(spiders, ticks and scorpions.)
There is a very useful introduction to each species which lists distribution, size, features, life cycleand conservation status
The photographs and artwork are superb but you need a magnifying glass to read the index. This is the only book on this subject you will need.
