Average customer review:Product Description
This short text is intended for first year undergraduates and introduces some concepts of chemical bonding in a clear, descriptive and essentially non-mathematical fashion. This text will find a place alongside textbooks containing more detailed formal coverage and mathematical descriptions. This book could form the basis of a 8-12 lecture introductory course on chemmcal bonding. The book addresses aspects of atomic orbital structure and uses this to develop a discussion of the bonding in diatomic and polyatomic molecules using Lewis dot structures, hybrid orbital, and molecular orbital methods. The prediction of molecular shape is addresses through the VSEPR method.

Excellent supplimentary reading.
Every first year chemistry undergraduate should own this book. It is inexpensive and provides excellent background reading as well as being an accurate summary of a lot of the inorganic chemistry undertaken in the first year.
Need to know about Hybridization? MO Theory? Need to revise Lewis Structures and electron accountancy? This is your first stop and has all the information you need in.
It's good stuff!
-As a side note, the author is one of my lecturers (University of Sheffield). He is excellent and this book is a great way to get his knowledge to you.
-He also created webelements, home of the internets first periodic table and an excellent source of reliable information.
