Product Description

Blackstone's Police Manuals are the leading police reference texts in the UK. In addition to being the only offical study guides for the police promotion examinations in England and Wales, and a recognised text for student police officers, the manuals have quickly established themselves as the definitive reference sources for all who have involvement with police law and procedure. The manuals have been written in consultation with police forces across England and Wales, and are endorsed by Centrex, now known as the National Policing Improvement Agency, for OSPRE Part 1 Promotion Examinations. Blackstone's Police Manual Volume 4: General Police Duties 2008 covers all aspects of police duties from a police officer's perspective. The 2008 edition has been updated to incorporate all recent legislative developments, inluding the 2007 Fraud Act. Other developments covered include the functions NPIA will take on, updates to the Police and Justice Act 2006, amendments to the Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006 and the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006. New material on the Police Regulations and Determinations that apply to sergeants and inspectors are included. This year, the manuals have also undergone a full revision in order to make them more accessible, relvant, and focused. The manuals are widely used in the professional development of police officers in a variety of roles making them essential reading for anyone with an interest in police and criminal law. Whether you are a serving police officer or police trainer, a practitioner, advisor, or researcher, Blackstone's Police Manuals 2008 are an essential purchse. The other three titles in the series are: Volume 1: Crime, Volume 2: Evidence and Procedure 2008, Volume 3: Road Policing 2008.

Editorial Reviews

Review
Review from previous edition:
"Some of the referenced cases were of particular interest and indeed I feel that they will add an additional pivotal learning and understanding for would be exam students ... I was very impressed with the content of this edition once again and look forward to seeing it in full production print form."--Stuart K Fairclough, Metropolitan Police Trainer
"The manuals are an excellent training and reference work. They are pitched at a level which is appropriate for all, from the new student officer to those studying for promotion to higher rank. I would recommend them to every officer wishing to improve or maintain their knowledge of law, police duties and procedures."--Paul Murphy, Greater Manchester Police

good for reference4
This book is a good up to date reference guide for general police duties. The text perfectly displays legislation and includes points to consider. Also incorporated is reference to the Human Rights Act 1998, a very touched upon subject nowadays.

Good useful book5
Really useful product for all purposes good explanation of the legislation, good on the "softer" subjects too like Human Rights, Police family etc. Recommend the series.
