Average customer review:Product Description
The third edition of Criminal Law: Text, Cases and Materials offers an exceptional depth of analysis whilst providing a wealth of cases and materials set within the theoretical context of criminal law. The effective two-part structure of each chapter in the book - the first part explaining the law as it is, the second examining the theoretical aspects - ensures that readers not only gain a secure understanding of the law itself but also acquire a fundamental appreciation of the complex philosophical and ethical debates surrounding it. Important theoretical material is made accessible to students through a particularly engaging writing style, and the author's clarity of expression brings the subject to life and places the law in context. This text is an essential and complete resource for all those wanting to get to grips with the always fascinating and sometimes challenging area of criminal law today. Online Resource Centre This book is accompanied by an Online Resource Centre, offering detailed updates to the law following publication, useful weblinks, and guidance on answering questions in the book. For this edition, the Online Resource Centre also provides video footage of the author talking about the book and his approach to criminal law.

Very concise yet not too complex
This is a wonderful textbook for all Law students studying criminal law. It helped me immensely with my essays and when it came to revision for exams. It is written in a concise yet friendly manner which is so easy to understand.
I would highly recomend this book as a must for anyone studying criminal law.
The best introduction to criminal law I have read
I bought this book to help me get up to date on criminal law before some work experience & really wished I had had it when studying criminal law. It lays everything out incredibly clearly & tells you about the issues & cases you need to know to pass an exam. Highly recommended.
A great book
I bought this book as some extra reading for part of my Open University Law Degree. It is written in an easy to read way and provided clear arguments on many cruical issues. Studying with the OU you tend to have to work things out for yourself from cases and workbooks. This book was much easier to understand than the textbooks provided with the course. The section on Consent as a defence was excellent and helped me get 88% for my essay! Nice one. I also found it great for revision.
I have previosuly bought "Legal Method" from the same series and intend to by the Tort and Contract books for my continuing studies.
