Editorial Reviews
Review
"I consider myself a seasoned 3ds Max user, but I have always struggled with poly-modeling organic shapes inside 3ds Max. Todd Daniele explained several of the "missing links" for me. Without any hesitation I would highly recommend this book to anyone using 3ds Max that wants to immediately improve their modeling techniques." --Jeff Patton, Freelance Digital Artist
"While I personally feel like Todd may be giving a little bit too much away, his new book is the perfect companion for both intermediate and über-advanced modelers. Whether you're looking for a refresher on the basics or trying to take it to the next level, Todd's book is a must-read!" --Jesse Holmes, Freelance TD & VFX Supervisor

Not Enough Detail
Well I've had this book for a few days now and my overall view is that it's just not detailed enough to be able to follow successfully. It is written in a step-by-step format but there are huge gaps between each one. The difference between one step and another is often explained in too little detail and it left me looking at the pictures to try and work out what has been done and often it was impossible. Following the steps to produce what the pictures show has just been impossible for me.
I'm disappointed because the book was delayed to begin with and I really hoped that it was going to be worth the wait but so far it just hasn't!
I haven't given up on this yet though and I must confess that I'm only part way through the book and it might yet redeem itself. Additionally, I would consider myself a 3DS Max novice and the introduction states that the book is written for intermediate to advanced level users and so might be more appropriate for a different audience. I failed to see this "disclaimer" before I purchased the book and so that's perhaps why I'm left disappointed.
Polygon modelling for 3D-designers of intermediate skill level
I have more than 5 years of experience with 3DS Max with a preference for polygon modelling. Even so the modelling methods and concepts of the book clearly has deepened my skills - especially saving a lot of time in some modelling projects. As another reader wrote in a review of the book, I agree, that the book is probably not best suited for absolute beginners of 3D-modelling, as it sometimes skips steps, and assumes, that the reader has aquired basic modelling skills. All in all a great book for intermediate and advances 3D-artists.
Very Good 3D Max book!
This book shares some good techniques which will come in handy when working on my models. It is easy to read with quick tutorials for examples of techniques. This book is for intermediate/advanced users as it says in the first few pages (click on its image to "look inside"). definatly worth getting if you want to learn some good techniques which increase your workflow and skills.
