Product Description

'The Return of the King' is the third part of JRR Tolkien's epic masterpiece 'The Lord of the Rings'. This paperback edition has the classic black cover featuring Tolkien's own design and includes the definitive edition of the text. The armies of the Dark Lord are massing as his evil shadow spreads even wider. Men, Dwarves, Elves and Ents unite forces to do battle against the Dark. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam struggle further into Mordor in their heroic quest to destroy the One Ring! JRR Tolkien's great work of imaginative fiction has been labelled both a heroic romance and a classic fantasy fiction. By turns comic and homely, epic and diabolic, the narrative moves through countless changes of scene and character in an imaginary world which is totally convincing in its detail. Tolkien created a vast new mythology in an invented world which has proved timeless in its appeal. Part of a set of three paperbacks, this popular edition is once again available in its classic black livery designed by Tolkien himself.

The best book I'v ever read.5
The best book I'v read in my whole life.A perfect balance of suspense and exitement what with the fierce Battle of the Pelennor Fields and the heroic deeds of Sam at the tower of Cirith Ungol. The first part tells how the Riders of Rohan come to the aid of Gondor in the defence against the ever growing Shadow of Mordor. It tells of a great battle between Good and Evil,Life and Death,Light and Dark. The second part tells the tale of Frodo and Sam and how they enter the Black Land and come face to face with the deadliest of enemies in their heroic attempt to destroy the Ruling Ring.It is my favourite book by my favourite author and I think it is well worth buying. It is the last part of The Lord Of The Rings where it reaches its awesome climax. It is well written and one of the best books you will ever read.

Awesome ending to an epic5
Tolkien's descriptive writing is 100% if not more as it outlines the true emotional terror of evil in realistic and gripping epic fashion. it certainly left me out of breath by the last page. Frodo's situation sits as a double edged sword as the fight between the ring and his conscience, and his mission proves whether he succedes or fails. Interesting twist at the end makes this the most popular book this century. A must. The appendix is worth reading as well as it outlines the history before and after this series and completes the story in true epic style.

The Greatest Story Ever Told5
It is almost impossible to review this book separately from the first two in the Trilogy. The Return of the King is simply the incredible ending to an incredible epic. Tolkien's themes of heroism in the face of unspeakable fear, and loyalty to friends, continue to resonate long after the book is finished. The bittersweet ending stays with you for a long time, and the images of Hobbiton and the Shire in the wake of the Great War are forever imbedded in my memory. This isn't just a book. The Lord of the Rings is a lifelong experience that you will come back to time and again.
