Customer Reviews
Clear, concise guide to M&A
If, like me, you are new to Mergers & Acquisitions work (whether as buyer or seller) this is an excellent guide.
Whilst many management books seem to waffle endlessly over simple points, this book comprises throughout 'crunchy' practical content that will make you a more skilled M&A practitioner. It is very readable and cuts straight to the point. Having seen some very poor M&A work I especially liked the emphasis on why NOT to do an acquisition and, if you do, how to ensure you have a clear integration plan worked up from the beginning. The chapter on valuation, whilst not attempting to be the complete guide to this complex topic, is certainly the simplest explanation of DCF and other valuation techniques that I have seen.
It's rare that I take the time to review a book - but for those coming to M&A, this one's a cracker!
Concise and Authoritative
I am a qualified accountant who have recently moved to private equity, and bought so many books with 'Private Equity' in their titles. Unfortunately, from the inside, most of these books were providing merely very generic descriptions about the history and future of PE rather than the actual groundwork.
This book is the one if you would like to know the acquistion process. You can always complement reading it with another text on how to exit from investments and valuation. Lucidly and clearly written. Definitely a '5 star' publication for an essentials book on the topic.
