A useful book for an introduction to Common Worship3
Michael Perham's book is most useful for its practical suggestions on the pastoral uses of the new Common Worship services (a new book in the Church of England)The title of his book is a little misleading because it includes comment on more than those services contained in the Pastoral Services Book and covers the Eucharist and initiation rites as well as marriage, healing, funerals etc. The book begins with a section on the nature of liturgy and then explores principles and practice. As well as looking at the pastoral use of various services , he also makes comment on the implications of the Christian year. The book will be useful to Anglican clergy, Readers and lay people who are involved in the planning of liturgy. Because of its practical nature it may also be of interest to worship leaders in other Christian denominations as they seek to link liturgy to the church's pastoral task. It is a very readable book which tries to avoid too much religious jargon

Super5
As a Reader in the Church of England I have found this book to be really helpful when planning worship. There are sections on most of the usual Church services with a good breakdown of what can happen and when.

The book is easy to read and has much that would help all planners of worship.
