Product Description

These beautiful love poems, by one of the world s greatest mystics, promises you that one day love will come to you. They evoke that special joy and excitement in the newness of love and the desire it awakens in you. But, as Khalil Gibran follows love s course, from spring to summer and autumn, he is realistic in describing love s often painful and difficult path before it reaches maturity or the sorrows of parting. Love Letters in the Sand, composed of extracts from some of Gibran s most famous works, including The Prophet, conveys the eternal power and magic of love it will arouse in you a new sense of love s meaning. Lassaad Metoui s lyrical calligraphy enhances and interprets Khalil Gibran s writing, making this a book to cherish throughout your life.

Simply Beautiful in Every Way5
I absolutely adore this book - it's rather a new edition and the combination of the beautiful poetry by Gibran, the stunning calligraphy by Metoui and the whole binding by the publisher is just perfect. I actually ordered this copy as a present for a close friend but have decided to keep it for myself and have ordered a new one for him...
Here is one of my favourite poems:

Who would sell me one beautiful thought
for a hundred pounds of gold? Who
would exchange one minute of love
for a handful of gems?
Who would give me one eye
that can see beauty,
in exchange for all my treasures?

A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT1
Many years ago in the 1970's a lovely lady gave me The Prophet by Khalil Gibran when I was leaving New Zealand to travel. I had never heard of this book, and I have read it so many many times over the years, and gave copies as gifts to so many people with whome I wanted to share this amazing book. I read extracts at funerals, weddings, poetry readings, and on many other occasions as in my opinion The Prophet gives you so much to think about.
I bought this book recently after reading the reviews, and to me it is one big disappointment. For a start, 5 pages of this book are from The Prophet, and most of the book is made up of a few lines here and there and yes, lovely words but not really what I expected. It would be appropriate for someone who has not read The Prophet.
