From the Back Cover
Loss came suddenly for Gerald Sittser. In an instant, a tragic accident claimed three generations of his family: his mother, his wife, and his young daughter. While most of us will not experience loss in such a catastrophic form, all of us will taste it. And we can, if we choose, know as well the grace that transforms it. A Grace Disguised plumbs the depths of our sorrows, whether due to illness, divorce, or the loss of someone we love. The circumstances are not important; what we do with those circumstances is. In coming to the end of ourselves, we can come to the beginning of a new life -- one marked by spiritual depth, joy, compassion, and a deeper appreciation of simple blessings.

The best Christian book on loss and grief
Jerry Sittser lost his mother, wife and one of his daughters in one car crash. In this book he reflects on the accident and his subsequent life, with a harrowing honesty which compels the reader to follow his journey. His faith falters and flickers but is never extinguished. In the end this is a book about the mystery of God's grace even in appalling tragedy. I reckon A Grace Disguised the best book on loss and grief by a Christian I have read in years. While it is painful in the extreme at times, this is a book to give you hope.

Supremely helpful
If you've experienced loss you'll almost certainly have been battered by a range of emotions. How do you, then, cope with those? Is it wrong to be angry? It is OK to be grieving 2 years on? What do you say - or feel - when someone tells you that 'life goes on, and you should have moved on by now'?
Jerry addresses these issues - and more - in this brilliant book. I can't recommend it more highly. Don't hesitate: buy it & read it. You won't regret it.
an honest book on loss
I read this book after I lost my baby girl, Amy, she was born too soon to survive. the year before I lost my Baby boy, Joshua for the same reason. I am a christian. I had lost all hope and was in a dark dark place and didn't know where to turn. I went to christian book shops trying to find something ANYTHING that might help me find my way without giving me the usual 'God will use you through this.' and I found this book. I read the chapter titles and thought...yeah this describes how I feel and I was right. This book made me feel normal. It helped me feel as though I wasn't alone and that it was ok to feel the way I did. I recommend it to anyone I know who is trying to come to terms with losing someone.
