Editorial Reviews

Review
"Sharp, jarring...Enjoy the visceral experience of existing on the fringes of celebrity." --"Details"
"Rachel Resnick's debut novel zips back and forth between set pieces and epiphanies-and cuts deep." --"The Philadelphia Inquirer"
"F*cking amazing! Imagine Irvine Welsh with a sex change and air-dropped onto Hollywood. Go West...is more than a great book, it's a phenomenon. A flat-out hysterical, heart-for-days guide through end-of-the-line Los Angeles. Rachel Resnick can write the ass off any man alive." --"Jerry Stahl, Author of Permanent Midnight"
"Bravely bizarre and splintered as a mosaic, like pieces of Bruce Wagner and Nathanael West glued into a window sunlit with despair." --"Kirkus Reviews"

Customer Reviews

A sex-bomb with a hi IQ confronts LA and her own dreams5
I am a typical, old-fashioned, Victor Hugo-type reader, in other words I like plot and linear narrative -- but in spite of their absence or because of it, Rachel Rasnick creates a magical, quivering city that glitters with the detritus of lost dreams. She bares her own ambitions (and sometimes her own breasts) to expose a sweaty yet oddly sacrosanct Los Angeles, where one day you wash clothes with Gene Autrey's son in the coin laundromat or drive by a homeless man exposing his butt and defecating on the steps of city hall, and the next day you're on your knees, awed by the city's hold over your imagination. Read Resnick for her sparkling words, punchy images and quirky metaphors. Don't expect it to yield its secrets like a Hardy Boys book. Connect each chapter like you connect-the-dots -- according to your own desires. Five Stars.

Resnick writes like a falling angel...5
Gets you attention from the jump. Takes you up, takes you down, spins your head all around. READ THIS BOOK!!!!

The Real Deal5
