How does a girl get from a Catholic school in Virginia to Mick Jagger's hotel room in two short years? In the early '70s, when rock stars were becoming the new royalty and models were their consorts and muses, Bebe Buell hit New York hard. One of Eileen Ford's most promising new faces, Bebe worked with the best of them (Scavullo, Avedon), and flowered in a city that was home to her first and enduring passion:rock music. Max's Kansas City was her stage, and Bebe was the star meeting everyone from Warhol to Dali, and captivating a generation of rock's greatest talents. Her relationships ranged from wunderkind Todd Rundgren to Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, from Jagger to rock's wordsmith Elvis Costello. Not to mention the fun she had with everyone from Rod Stewart to Ron Wood, David Bowie to Jack Nicholson. Rabel Heart drops readers right back into rock's heyday and is full of detail that deepens even the most ardent fan's understanding of the '70s and '80s rock scene.

Bebe's "Rebel Heart" is true...
I loved this book so much. Not only is it one of a kind but it is FUNNY and soulful. It isn't easy to put so much life in so little space but Bebe Buell and Victor Bockris managed to do it and do it beautifully. I laughed, cried and howled in some parts. I've visited the Uk and love British magazines and the reason I am writing this on a UK site is because of all the British pop culture that this book embraces. Bebe obviously loves the English and it comes through in this wonderful book about life, rock and roll, romance and loss. Anyone who loves music and survivor stories should read this action packed journey and just because it says "an American" journey doesn't mean it doesn't touch on Bebe's childhood love of British music and the men who make it. The book is touching because there is never a malicious tone or a score settling approach. Also, the photos are spectacular and the pages are lined in leopard. A real treat for any collector and a must for book lovers and bio connoisseurs. I must warn you though, it is hard to put down so make sure you have the time for an eight hour reading stretch. A must for all this holiday season.
Smart, funny, dishy memoir -- a real page-turner!
Bebe Buell finally tells all about what it was like to be the 'all-access' pass holder to the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s -- and what a wild ride it was. Her bio is touching, scandalous, amusing and deeply moving in parts, proving that even cover girls can and do get their hearts broken into a million pieces. The good news is that even after a tumultuous life that could have done her in for good (and certainly killed more than a few of her peers), Buell is back -- stronger in the mended places, unbowed and as feisty as ever. A delicious read!
This Was Some Book, Bravo!
If Marianne Faithfull and Iggy Pop had a baby, it would be Bebe Buell. I'm still trying to figure out my feelings about this said tome as I have so many different emotions to play with. I have seen her sing and she is bloody incredible so that probably would make her a tad batty after awhile to always be refered to the woman who dated Rod Stewart and Elvis Costello, to name a few. But she is a very good sport and still shines like a new penny. Some may think this book is all about rock stars and their "members" but it is a far cry from that. It is a riviting tale of a beautiful girl who gets tossed around and hurt and used but still comes out like a goddess. It is amazing to say the least. Her ego is enormous so that may bother some but personally, I wouldn't want her any other way. Who wants their rock chicks to be humble? Not I! I don't think that Victor Bockris was a wise choice in co-writer because he didn't really capture the sweetness of this woman. She really does embody the Penny Lane character in "Almost Famous". That has probably been the mistake of her life. Putting too much trust in love and men. Oh well, we did get the glorious Liv out of all this so for that and so much more, I applaud Bebe and her book.
