The struggle of the Irish people for independence is one of the epic tales of the 20th century. Morgan Llywelyn has chosen it as the subject of her major work, a multi-novel chronicle that began with 1916 and now continues in 1921. 1921 is the year of the Irish Civil War and the year of the separation of Ireland into two nations, south and north. 1921 is told by Henry Mooney, a journalist (based on the author's grandfather), who struggles for truth in his reporting and falls in love with an Englishwoman in Ireland in the midst of political and military horrors.

Review
"Irish writer Morgan Llywelyn is tracing the history of Ireland in a saga called 'The Irish Century' . . . Ms. Llywleyn's work interprets the Irish Troubles in a fictional setting that helps outlanders understand their complexity and bitterness."-"The Richmond Times-Dispatch"
"A wonderful, and exciting book-a great reading pleasure."-"Irish American News"
Customer Reviews
Excellent - a worthy sequel to her book '1916'
If you want to mix fiction with reliable fact then '1921' is an excellent read. As a British person the events of the early 1900's in Ireland are an invaluable insight into the troubles that still concern us today. If you haven't read '1916' by the same author, make sure you read this before '1921'. Although '1921' stands on its own as a novel an understanding of the earlier years chronicled in '1916' will make '1921' an even better read. I'm looking forward to '1923', '1930', or whatever the next in the series is to be entitled!
