This volume contains the final works of Lumley's dramatic Mythos series - the story of the long fought battle between Titus Crow and his fellow men with the nightmare hordes of Cthulhu. A battle that has ranged from planet earth into outer space into other dimensions and into the world of human dreams itself. As one of the most spectacular explorations of the Cthulhu Mythos since Lovecraft first laid down the foundations of it this huge narrative is surely a must for anyone who in interested in exploring the mythos - and also for anyone who wants a good dose of high fantasy and adventure. It is true that, compared with the original stories by Lovecraft and others, the Mythos series of Lumley is noticeably a lighter and more directly adventurous read with less of the subtlety and sense of smallness against unimaginable things that made them so unique - but in their own way these books succeed impressively in what they set out to do. Seldom will you come across fantasy on such scale. The vision behind the stories is tremendous and the imagery stunning. And here, in the final two books it all comes to it's climax in one of the greatest displays I have seen.

If it is subtlety you want then you probably wont enjoy Lumley's over-the-top style - but if you want to just relax and be swept through a spectacular, grandioso adventure then you will love this!!
