A devoted wife and mother, businesswoman, TV star and award-winning producer, Sharon Osbourne has, in her own words, 'lived fifty lives in fifty years'. From her extraordinary childhood as the daughter of infamous rock manager Don Arden, to managing and marrying rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, to her own rising fame on shows such as "The Osbournes" and "The X Factor", Sharon Osbourne has experienced tremendous highs and devastating lows. She has earned her reputation by overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles with her honesty, charm, sense of humour, great instincts, and keen eye for business. Now she will reveal the truth behind the headlines in her characteristically frank, intimate and articulate way. Her story will, undoubtedly, be the autobiography of the year.

Review
Exhausting memoir soaked in bodily fluids from warmhearted showbiz vulgarian Osbourne. The wife of madman rocker Ozzy relates her turbulent life story in chummy, "ain't-I-a-stitch" prose that is in equal parts endearing and embarrassing. The daughter of prominent London music executive (and alleged organized-crime figure) Don Arden, Sharon became inured at an early age to all manner of debauchery, violence and domestic chaos. (This would come in handy later.) Bullied and manipulated by her father in a series of shady financial schemes, the hapless young woman careened between London and Los Angeles in a haze of alcohol and binge-eating, cultivating a shrill fishwife persona along the way. So far, so dreary. Then Sharon's friendship with the similarly gormless Ozzy Osbourne, a pathetic, clownish figure hopelessly addicted to drugs and alcohol and held in contempt by his Black Sabbath bandmates, blossomed into an apocalyptic romance characterized by domestic violence (including a murder attempt), paranoia, failed stints in rehab and a devotion to fecal-matter-themed pranks. The storied business meeting in which her man orally decapitated a dove before horrified executives is presented here as just another crazy day in Ozzyland; Sharon's reaction to the stunt was hysterical laughter, which provides a useful indication of her authorial sensibilities. Some of the charm found in The Osbournes MTV series is evident-amid all the squalor and noise, the family displays palpable love and affection-but the TV show had the virtue of clever editing. Here, Sharon's compulsive purchases of dogs, jewelry and houses; her screaming fights with just about everybody; her myriad tragic illnesses and injuries; and her relentless profanity pile up into an undifferentiated mass of bad behavior and grim circumstances. Reading this messy memoir is like being stuck on a long bus ride with a repellent yet fitfully compelling seatmate; the journey is diverting in a way, but you're relieved when it's over. A life of noisy desperation, vomited up con brio. (52 b&w and color photos throughout) (Kirkus Reviews)

Entertaining, but soft on Ozzy...
The Ozzy we know and love from the (edited? NEVER!) Osbourne show was once an alcoholic, drug abuser and, during many a stupor, prone to beating his wife (although, according to Sharon, she gave as good as she got.)
Sharon's early life with her dysfunctional, thuggish father and cold, envious mother, and the years of abuse and mamipulation she endured thereafter, are quite extraordinary. That she came through her formative years with a semblance of positivity shows her strength of character. She holds no prisoners when describing her relatives... her Dad comes across as a bullying scumbag and her siblings fare little better. Ozzy, in contrast, is painted as a victim, unaccountable for his (often horrifying)actions.
Nonethelss, this is an entertaining read peppered with Osbourne-speak (read: colourful language!) If you're stuck for Christmas gift ideas, you can't really go wrong with this.
Extreme is right
I'm a fan of Sharon Osbourne. She's an explosive personality and tells it like it is, although sometimes that's not always the best thing.
This is a good read. She has had a very extreme life with high highs and low lows. But, however much she is seen as a tough lady, she is very weak when it comes to her husband who, it has to be said, does not come out of this tome in a good light. He was a wife beating, drug addicted, sex crazed alcoholic and I don't understand why she stayed with him. And she is extremely foul mouthed (which is to be expected) and to be honest I'm surprised her family did not turn out worse than they did but I think it's thanks to Sharon they stayed on some sort of straight and narrow (well, maybe!).
However, she seems to have found her soul mate in Ozzy (and the fact they seem to be able to defectate on cue!). Yes, it is that kind of book. Some things will make your eyes water (like what she did with his bottle of booze) and some things will just make you think "why didn't you get the hell out".
A good read. However, if these people are seen as the heros and role models of today, God help us.
The fabulous Mrs O!
A great book and a really good quick read.
I really was only aware of Sharon Osbourne through the X Factor and for being Ozzy's husband and what an eye opener this book was!
She is very frank in this book and there are no holds barred! She has had quite a life really and her early years and the volatile relationship with her husband make for amazing reading.
This really is worth a read: if you are a Sharon fan or even if you just like a well written autobiography - don't miss it!
