Product Description

This work of reference is an "A-Z of everything" - from Abbreviations to Zip Codes. In a quest for accuracy, comprehensiveness and truth, the book contains no gimmick, no superfluous illustration, just pure fact. Many of the sections stand up in their own right as reference works, for example, the history section contains a detailed chronology of world history with every major event being listed and the geography section includes a comprehensive list of every known capital, even uninhabited Pacific islands. This book is intended as a resource every home will require to settle trivial pursuits and significant arguments.

Customer Reviews

Easily the most wonderful book of knowledge i have ever read5
I have only had the book for two days but i simply cannot put it down. The BC chronology narrative is very well explained and i adored the military operations. I thought i knew all the world capital cities but there were many i found in this book that i had never come across before.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

This book undoubtedly is the ultimate reference work5
The sheer comprehensiveness and detail is absolutely mind-blowing. I particularly enjoyed reading the precis of the Bible and the famous people section. I also loved reading the derivations of the names of some pop groups and the nature section is brilliant. It is great to see a book that has taken care on the correct taxonomical format of living things. This is clearly a book that will become the standard reference work to settle disputes but more than that i have found it a joy to turn each page and discover what treasures lie ahead

Simply the most useful book i have on my shelf.5
Difficult to add much to what has already been said about this work. Although this is one book in reality it is several books rolled into one.
I particularly like the contrast between the really heavy subjects such as philosophy, science, politics and Shakespeare, and the lighter ones such as middle-names and nursery rhymes. I found the castles and cathedrals chapter very interesting and the music section caters for all tastes in so much depth it is just
amazing. If i may be permitted to be slightly critical without ending up in the attempted assassinations section!! i am finding the pages are numbered in a difficult place to see, would it not be better to number centrally. That said i have never been moved to write a review of any book before but i did want to congratulate the author on being responsible for the best Xmas present i have ever had, and it kept the children quiet on Boxing Day, not easy to do!! Congrats
