Calculus hasn’t changed, but your students have. Many of today’s students have seen calculus before at the high school level. However, professors report nationwide that students come into their calculus courses with weak backgrounds in algebra and trigonometry, two areas of knowledge vital to the mastery of calculus. Thomas’ Calculus, Media Upgrade, Eleventh Edition responds to the needs of today’s students by developing their conceptual understanding while maintaining a rigor appropriate to the calculus course.
Thomas’ Calculus, Media Upgrade, Eleventh Edition is now available with an enhanced MyMathLab™ course—the ultimate homework, tutorial and study solution for today’s students. The enhanced MyMathLab course includes a rich and flexible set of course materials and features innovative Java™ Applets, Group Projects, and new MathXL® exercises. This text is also available with WebAssign® and WeBWorK®.

Very good helpful book
I used this book in college. I found it a very helpful, useful book. It comes complete with pictures to help you understand what you're doing. Ultimately it's a most helpful book if you're looking for mathematical machinery to develop yourself to do mechanics etc. - it was in maths methods that I found it most useful. This, the tenth edition comes complete with a CD rom to make learning even easier and more fun. I give it the 5 stars because I can't think of a flaw with the book. It does what it does (mathematical methods) very well. It's well worth the buy.
Nice and clear Calculus book
This is indeed a great book on Calculus. Subjects are presented very clearly, so even a high school student like me gets the idea. The text is easy to read, not too compressed and doesn't overwhelm the reader. There's also nicely examples of applications, not just raw mathematics. However, I was quite disappointed about the fact that second and higher order differential equations aren't discussed at all.
Another book that understands the concept of simple English
I am currently taking Mathematics as a foundation course at LSE and Binmore's Calculus is the recommended text. I find this book to be far easier to understand in its explanations and the simple step by step guide to how to do it without the assumption the reader already knows the concepts unlike other Calculus books, highly recommended.
