Customer Reviews

Excellent Introductory Text for Computer Science4
This is a very good introduction to Computer Science. I have read the book from cover to cover. It touches on every aspect (introduction level) to this art and science of computing.

Nevertheless, if one wants a deeper/detailed insight into the topics, then I would suggest the reader uses the bibliography for further reading.

Good stuff!

Good standard of elementary grounding in Computer Science4
When I purchased the sixth edition of this book, the seventh edition came out soon after. Fortunately I managed to share the latest version of the book with fellow students. There are generally two type of students - those who are of impatient type and happy to dive straight into the nitty-gritty without detailed explanation and the other want the full picture with a thorough explanation. Because this was a course book, I had to purchase it and I was horrified because this book is fairly textual and I am not a great reader. Looking at it now, I am glad to have gone through it and would admit that this book has enhanced my understanding and approach to the Computer Science discipline. The treatment given is thorough with little mathematical involvement. To summarise it, it is a good book and covers a good standard of grounding in Computer Science at elementary level. Highly recommended for undergraduates on a bridging course.

Thorough introduction to all aspects of IT5
Well structured, clearly organised and thorough giving enough background and information to be useful without going into too much detail on any one aspect.

Can be read either from cover to cover or used as a reference.

The questions, some with and some without answers, encourage the reader to understand the subject matter thoroughly before moving on.
