Product Description

The battle that many musicians, of whatever level, have to face is an inner one - against nervousness, self-doubt and fear of failure. In this highly successful book, first published by Pan in 1987, musician Barry Green explains the basic principles of 'natural learning' that make up the Inner Game methodology, and shows how to apply them to reach a new level in the learning and performing of music.

With special features on ensemble playing, improvisation and listening skills, and with exercises that help intonation, artistic phrasing and technique, The Inner Game of Music is invaluable to performers, students, teachers and anyone with an interest in music.

Want to know how to cure performance neves? Read this!!5
This book is now my new bible, It has helped me so much in overcoming those performance nerves that you will always aquire at a performance. My self doubt and fear of failure has always been a problem, this book is the solution to my problem and has made me look at performance in a whole new perspective. My nerves have been reduced to that of a 'fun' feeling instead of gut wrenching sensation. Now I enjoy performance and have found myself to be more relaxed, this is one game you can't miss out on!!

Fascinating, valuble resource for musicians of all standards5
This is a fascinating concept which looks at the way your brain interacts as you play, and uses the idea that your natural instinct is as valuble as any technique. It has things in it that will make even the most advanced musician think, and yet is well within reach of the novice musician. Even the most sinical will find this a fascinating read, and for many, may change the way you go about practicing and performing forever. At this price it is a resource that no musician should be without.

Excellent, valuable information5
I have been playing the Flute for 7 years and, even now when I come to perform, whether it be solo of as part of an orchestra, I still get nervous. This book has to be one of the best books I have read for overcoming that fear. I strongly recommend it to all musicians.
