Product Description

After their thrilling exploits in Matthew Reilly’s bestseller Seven Ancient Wonders, super-soldier Jack West and his loyal team of adventurers are back, and now they face an all-but impossible challenge. For a mysterious ceremony in an unknown location has triggered a catastrophic countdown that will climax in the destruction of all life on Earth.

But there is one last hope. If Jack’s team can find and rebuild a legendary ancient device known only as the “Machine”, they might be able to ward off this coming Armageddon. The only clues to its location, however, are held within the fabled Six Sacred Stones, long lost in the fog of history.

And so the hunt begins . . . From Stonehenge in England, to the deserts of Egypt, to the spectacular Three Gorges region of China, The Six Sacred Stones will take you on a non-stop rollercoaster ride through ancient history, modern military hardware, and some of the fastest and most mind-blowing action you will ever read.

Indy reborn!5
When i picked up my first Matthew Reilly book (Seven Ancient Wonders) I was hooked, I immediately ordered all of his back issues of Contest, Temple, Ice Station, Area 7, and Scarecrow. They were all subsequently devoured within a matter of days!
In "The 6 sacred stones" Reilly returns to my favorite character Jack West Jr, or more simply Huntsman.
This story picks up approximately 18 months after S.A.W. and delivers all the action and adrenaline that are the trademarks of Reilly's method of writing with african cannibals, submarines, and chinese prisons being some of the epic plot devices that are used to keep the story hurtling onwards.
Previous reviews have slated this story for being a part of a series, and while it is a little frustrating, I for one will be eagerly awaiting the next installment.
It is a truly spectacular cliffhanging ending too!

Pretty expensive for a third of a book!3
I've, enjoyed this one for the most part.

As others have said the events are so implausible they are laughable but still fun. Like when you were a kid playing cops and robbers; you got shot but didn't die because you had your fingers crossed which activated a forcefield around you that reflected the bullets back of course.

My main gripe is that it's barely half a book! Yes, its 500 pages but I'd guess another two books of that length will be required to complete the story.

It really should be advertised at The Six Sacred Stones: Part One

STOP THE PRESSES! Armageddon is near!, January 5, 2008 4
This was my first Matt Reilly book and I must say it is the most absurd, silly book I have ever read. He makes up ancient history as he goes along, forming it to whatever will fit his plot line (which is pretty thin!). All that being said, I could not put the dang thing down once I started. The Six Sacred Stones is a high octane thrill ride that never lets up. The key to enjoying this book is think comic book, if you are expecting a thriller based on the possible, and having some shred of actual fact behind it, do not look here. But if you like non-stop action and adventure with thrilling cliff hanging suspense you can't miss here! I now have to go back and try Reilly's other books: Temple, Ice Station, andScarecrow. And for more high octane thrills wrapped in an ancient mystery read the cult hit "Tourist in the Yucatan!"
