Product Description

A beautiful Italian girl driving home in an open top sports car, a little boy playing on a south Coast beach and the Senior Steward of the Jockey Club on his way to a press reception in Baltimore. One after the other they suffer the same nightmare ordeal - kidnapping.

But there is one thing connecting these particular cases. For the Italian girl is a jockey and the little boy an only son of a race horse owner. A picture of the person behind this interanational chain of crime starts to emerge - a lover of Verdi, a man with a cool and calculating brain and an aficionado of the racing world.

Andrew Doublas, brought in to advise and help the vicitms and their families, proceeds with all his customary diplomacy and courage. Only to find himeself playing a dangerous part: the role usually reserved for his clients...

Greatly different!5
Since I started travelling for my job I've been reading Francis in English. The Danger is unlike any others I've read so far. Usually the main character is confronted with some crime and starts an investigation. Not this time, he is just doing his job. And also the lovestory is totally different now. If you like Francis, you'll love this one!

well up to the usual standard4
As well as having a typically exciting and suspenseful plot, this is possibly the most emotionally engaging Francis novel I have ever read. The scenes involving a toddler who has been emotionally damaged by a frightening kidnap experience are particularly moving... if you have a child of your own, make sure you have tissues to hand! But this is a well plotted and original thriller, and I will definitely be reading it again.

One of Francis' best5
I loved this book. It was full of suspense and danger (as shown by the title). It involved a negotiator who had to solve the kidnapps of people involved in horse racing. I liked this book so much because the character actually had plausible reasons for being so clever and adept. In most of Dick Francis books it seems unlikely that the main character - whoever it is - is so fantastic at solving the crimes. It came to a gripping finale which involve the main character being handcuffed to a tree entirely starkers! A great book!
