Exercising the mind!
Doing cryptic crosswords is a great way to challenge our minds as my husband and I do them together over an early morning cup of tea. We get great satisfaction completing them accurately together - with no cheating!! We also take the handy book of crosswords on long car journeys and holidays as they are useful "time fillers" when stuck in traffic or waiting for trains or planes. Having a good dictionary handy helps with spellings and obscure meanings of words - so we are always learning something new. In a book you get 80 crosswords, so it is really good value.
