Product Description

Ben Rosamond provides an accessible and critical introduction to the full range of classical and contemporary perspectives on integration theory. He explains the centrality of theoretical work to the study of integration and the EU and locates different theories within their wider intellectual and "real world" contexts. The book engages with the key debates to have arisen from theoretical deliberations about European integration. It emphasizes the importance of "sociology of knowledge" questions when evaluating integration theory and stressing the continued significance of international theory to the study of the EU.

Customer Reviews

Excellent on the theory behind EU integration5
Examining the major approaches to integration of the EU. Balanced and constructive, great if you have some knowledge of politics or international relations theory. You will be disappointed if you're looking for basic information on the EU. Not to demanding reading, although it is about the theory of EU integration rather than about the EU itself. Great for understanding the idea of regional integration and the reasons for it.

Concise and well organised4
European integration can often be a complex and confusing area of study, especially when investigating the theoretical side of the issue. This book was easy to use and well set-out. It didn't answer all my questions, but it certainly gave me a good starting point and directed me towards further reading.

Excellent Introduction to studies.4
Although basic in content this book provides an excellent introduction to the theories of European integration. The book is most uncomplicated to read allowing you to gain a basic understanding without being bogged down with complex argument.

I would certainly recommend this book if you are looking for an overview of theory as an introduction to studies.
