Product Description

This volume aims to provide the reader with the necessary grounding, principally in physics which will allow them to subsequently embark on an engineering degree course. It is written for the foundation year now common in many higher education institutions. Together, they offer a complete package for the 12-month course, providing all the theory, and reinforcing it with numerous worked examples, problems and illustrations of application. This edition has been extended to include five new topics. One deals with the nucleus, and the others extend the discussion of materials into the first year degree and diploma context.

Customer Reviews

An absolute must for all foundation and first year Engineers5
This book is an absolute must for all foundation and first year Engineering students. The book provides a basic and yet thorough covering of all the Mechanics and Chemistry you will need to know! The book is printed with a handy extra large margin for you to make your own notes in, this proves very useful. You will find the book is split into very easily defined topics each with end of unit questions, some of the questions extend further than the content to allow the reader to expand their knowledge!!! There is no doubt that this book will improve you science to the level you need it to be!

Not the most useful of texts1
This book is not the best of texts for those studying a foundation year. In order to read this, you would need a degree. The practice questions included are of no use as not all the work in the text is covered to answer them.
