This latest edition brings readers up to date with relevant and topical issues in nursing and health research. There are new chapters on qualitative research, combining qualitative and quantitative methods, and evidence-based practice. The sections on research governance, systematic reviews, experiments and research utilisation have all been expanded for this edition.
Learning about research can be a daunting task - the strength of this book is that it guides beginners gently into research while still providing food for thought for those with some research experience.

Customer Reviews
Excellent Research textbook
This book is easy to read with a comprehensive range of methodologies etc. Really useful for Student Nurses undertaking annotated bibliography assignments. Recommend
Parahoo
This book was a godsend when writing my critique and proposal; and I'll be using it in my dissertation. Parahoo writes in a style that is easily quotable, and the glossary has probably saved my assignments! My tutor is also a huge fan of this book, I would definatly recommend it
Nursing research for the biginners and the experienced practitoners
I was in fact thrilled and energised when I read this 2nd edition of Prof. Parahoo's book!
Like the first one, this edition guides you through the basic ethics and progression in the nursing research process, except that, it keeps you up to date with nursing knowledge and research. It also includes extra appropriate chapters reflecting the evidence-based practice phenomenon.
Currently, I am in the final year of my degree and in the process of an extended literature review. By following the pertinent chapters in this book, I was able to draw together the majority of the theoretical starting point for my study. The relevant guidance and recommended link proved more than accommodating for my learning needs. Doing research without a good book is like `building castles in the air', (Parahoo, 2006)
I would robustly recommend this book for anybody embarking on research in nursing as well as in other health related subjects.
