A model of compression
Dr. Lynch succeeds where many works many times the length fail. He compresses with care and erudition the history of the world's most populous and most perplexing nation. As an introduction to twentieth century Chinese history this book is difficult to match. All those seeking to understand the potential rise of the PRC in the next century should start with this assessment of its role in this.
