A "Must" for anyone wanting to improve their singing
As a professional musician, I looked at this book both from the point of view of a musician, and from the point of view of being a lousy singer. The book gives excellent advice on all basic aspects of singing, right from learning to breath properly to exercises and then working on the interpretation of some well known songs inside the book. Susan Sutherland helps a singer form a good basis which can then be used in pop singing right through to classical.
Highly recommended.
The best singing teacher I've ever had!
I can recommend this book to anyone who has ever wanted to sing. Easy to follow and very encouraging.
An ideal book for people who want to improve their singing
Teach Yourself Singing is suitable for people who want to be professional singers, as well as those of us who simply want to make a nicer noise in the shower! The book is extremely readable and simple to follow. The book covers how you should prepare your body for singing through exercises and relaxation. The author then looks at the different techniques you will need to master. There are a number of exercises which you should do at your own pace and these focus on seven different songs. The last section of the book focuses on how you can develop what you have learnt and gives you tips on singing in public.
