Review
For superb descriptions of the signs and symptoms of surgical disease, this is a masterwork. -- Journal of Vascular Surgery For senior medical students, I recommend Browse's 'Symptoms and Signs of Surgical Disease'. It is deservedly popular, partly because of its excellent pictures and good descriptions of how to examine the relevant organs and systems. -- British Medical Journal This need for a systematic approach to history taking and the significance of symptoms and physical signs in surgical conditions has been admirably fulfilled... -- The Lancet This book restores one's faith in what can be achieved by a clear minded author sure of what he wants to say, armed with the facility for constructing superb line diagrams...I shall certainly recommend this book to my students with confidence and enthusiasm. -- Medical Teacher This books is, arguably, the best there is. I recommend it strongly to all medical students and surgical tainees, who will find it very useful throughout their surgical careers. -- The British Journal of Surgery

Symptoms and Signs of Surgical Disease
A very good, jargon free book suitable for those just becomming accustomed to clinical practice. It's focus on the critical areas is excellent, using diagrams and simplefacts to help the reader understand, rather than learn parrot-fashion. A plethora of high quality photographs also serve the book well.
Also, it is modestly priced and not too big.
Altogehter it is very highly reccomededfor medical students developing clinical competence.
Excellent!
This book is amazing! It covers all surgical examinations in sufficient detail for preparation for any OSCE exam. I have not yet come across any book that can describe examinations of patients without bombardment of detail or only scraping across the surface, but this book manages to strike the balance. An essential aid to any clinical student of any year, with photographs of real cases, this book should be on the bookshelf of every medical student's personal library. Buy it now!
Pretty good
A well written book on surgery and as you might expect from something surgical lots of pictures. For me it was a way of making something extremely dull understandable and readable. I'd recommend it.
