Editorial Reviews
Rev Michael Mitton
"A wonderful worshp resource in the Celtic tradition, that offers variety and spiritual depth."
About the Author
After working for the Bible Society Ray Simpson became the first Anglican and Free Church Minister of the Christian Church in Bowthorpe, Norwich to which six streams, both catholic and protestant, are covenanted, and Chaplain to Bowthorpe Community Workshops. He is now Guardian of the Community of Aidan and Hilda. From his house of prayer on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne he facilitates a new cradling of Celtic spirituality through soul friendship, retreats, and resources for churches.
Customer Reviews
Full of joy, peace and praise and many meaningful passages.
I recently visited Iona and was deeply moved by the aura of peace which reigns over the island and the wonderful ecumenical atmosphere at all the services I attended. Ray Simpsons' book reflects everything I feel about Iona and the worship thereon. The book is divided into five main sections, Worship Through the Week, Five Night Prayers, A Celtic Holy Communion, Some Special Celebrations and Praying With the Celtic Saints. Much of the worship can involve several individuals as well as the congregation as a whole; this latter point is very pertinent as it is an important objective of the Anglican Church's New Liturgy due to be adopted in December 2000.
People of all faiths will find something here with which they can identify. I heartily recommend it as a book which can be read in the solitude of one's own home or in a Service of Worship with others.
Celtic Christian Spirituality - inspiration all year round!
The book's five main sections, Worship Through the Week, Five Night Prayers, A Celtic Holy Communion, Some Special Celebrations and Praying With the Celtic Saints provide a rich source of inspiration for personal meditation and study, as well as corporate worship.
Ray has managed to craft a work that will provide inspiration all the year round, whilst remaining fresh even on revisiting. Highly recommended and an excellent resource for anyone even vaguely interested in the 'Celtic Christian Spirituality'.
