Product Description

There is now a widespread appreciation that agencies concerned with children are advocating the need for greater collaboration and co-operation between organisations and professional groups if we are to respond appropriately to the needs of children and young people as we approach the next century. The purpose of this book is to facilitate this collaboration by adopting a multi-professional approach to relevant childhood issues, to raise awareness and develop informed insights into the roles, value systems of different professional groups.

Written by a collaborative team from schools of health care and education, this is a truly multi-disciplinary text, advocating a child-centred approach to the study of, and provision for, childhood.Written by a collaborative team from schools of health care and education, this is a truly multi-disciplinary text, advocating a child-centred approach to the study of, and provision for, childhood. The text explores child development, images of childhood, children learning, measuring children, the family, children and violence and children at risk. Each chapter is written by a lead author from a particular professional discipline and co-authored by contributors from different educational or professional backgrounds, ensuring its interdisciplinary approach.

Customer Reviews

This book gives you an insight of childhood5
I thought this book highlighted the personal, social and ethical dimensions of childhood experience. I used this book for my dissertation on how PSE can help the abused child. However the book covered so many topics associated with children, that it could help you understand any topic relating to children.

Apart from using this book as a resource for my studies, it has also helped me to to understand the experience of childhood through my son's eyes. I think this book will benefit the relationship I have with my son.
