Product Description

Imprisoned in a false 'marriage' and trapped in Glasgow's mean streets, Kirsty and Craig Nicholson are drifting apart, held together only by their son, Bobby. Kirsty finds herself drawn more and more to David Lockhart, the young minister who cares for her deeply. But David is bound to return to China and only his love for Kirsty keeps him in Scotland. Craig, now a committed policeman, is incensed by the behaviour of his family when they fall under the influence of a rich and generous patron, and seeks solace in the arms of a street woman from the burgh's dark slums. His growing obsession with her threatens not only Kirsty, but the future of his family too . . .

Victorian Disfunctional Family Saga at it's BEST!!!5
How hard life must have been back in the Victorian times, especially for an orphan girl. Imagine growing up under a mean, ugly misers rule out in the middle of nowhere. It's no wonder that Kirsty turns to the first person that shows her any kindness. As the story unfolds more interesting characters come into her life. Ms. Stirling paints a wonderful glimpse into life as it was in our great grandparents days and I loved it and every book that followed. We don't get enough of these types of stories over here. We have a glut of the "Fabio cover" types. You know what I mean. He resembles Fabio and his shirt is either missing or ripped to shreds! She's gorgeous and bent backwards so far that her head is knocking against her ankles. Those are real snoozers but people who can write about life the way that Jessica Stirling and the late Catherine Cookson did should be considered national treasures.
