Editorial Reviews

Independent
‘A blisteringly entertaining read’

Sunday Express
‘Overflows with flavoursome anecdotes about Paul Simon, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen and especially Michael Jackson . . . captivating’

Q
‘A literary bull in a china shop. Richly narcissistic, it’s heady with life, vigour and the most tremendous gall’

Put Your Seatbelts On !4
This is a fascinating book. If you are interested in learning more on the characters of the A List celebrities, including Mick Jagger & Michael Jackson to name but a few, then buy this book. Walter Yetnikoff does not come across as a nice guy, but he does come across honestly. Beware, there are a few fairly explicit details in this book, & if you are comfortable with reading such details, then I recommend this book. This is real fast lane stuff !

So close and yet so far3
What I thought was going to be a roller coaster ride of a journey turned out to be much more of a gloss over of the ride with a couple of interesting and amusing anecdotes. The most annoying thing is that Walter Yetnikoff clearly had an amazing life but all he does is tell you "I was going crazy" without giving enough actual examples. He is a great man clearly, I just wish it came through more. Anthony keidis biography, Scar Tissue. which recommended this book in the back sleeve, was a far more engaging, illuminating and personal account.

Candid and informative5
Walter Yetnikoff was (and no doubt still is) a larger than like character who was one of the executive titans of the US music industry - particularly at the point of the CBS/Sony takeover.

This book is packed with anecdotes and is a great insight into someone who lived the rock 'n' roll dream, albeit from the corporate level.

Yetnikoff dealt with a host of big names and their egos and was a key player in the boardrooms of the American music industry for many years.

A great read, and a book that also depicts the excesses of the music industry before the Internet popped up and bit it hard (very hard ...).
