Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap
Happy Birthday, Alfie!
Alfie and his little sister Annie Rose have been entertaining children with their adventures for twenty-five years. For this very special birthday, Shirley Hughes has created an irresistible gift book inviting young readers to explore Alfie's world - to visit his house, meet his friends and neighbours, his favourite toys, to join him in the park where he and Annie Rose play... there is even a brand new story in which he solves the mystery of a missing pet.
Small children see their own everyday lives, with all their small dramas and excitements, reflected in Alfie's world, which is why he has been an enduring favourite with so many generations.
No one but Shirley Hughes so perfectly captures the rough and tumble of early childhood.
