Amazon.co.uk Review
The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season! The ghastly Grinch refuses to be moved by the Christmas spirit in this lovely hardback version of Dr Seuss's classic tale. Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason.
It could be his head wasn't screwed on just right.
It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were too tight
When he spies the citizens of Who-ville enjoying their Christmas preparations, the Grinch comes down from his cave and makes a dastardly attempt to take all the joy out of the occasion by actually stealing Christmas.
With zany rhymes and distinctive black and red illustrations, this classic seasonal story has become a favourite for good reason. In the end, the story of the ghastly Grinch has something to teach us all about the true meaning of Christmas. --Rachel Ediss

The Grinch hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season! Now, please don't ask why. No one quite knows the reason. It could be his head just wasn't screwed on just right. It could be, perhaps, that his shoes were just too tight. But I think the most likely reason of all May have been that his heart was two sizes two small. The classic Dr Seuss story of the grumpy Grinch who wants to steal Christmas from the happy people of Whoville is brought thoroughly up to date in this book and tape pack. Dr Seuss's classic story, filled with irreverent wit and acerbic illustration has lost none of its charm, and the tape, which features the story read by an exuberant Rik Mayall, makes an excellent read-along-companion or can be enjoyed on its own. Never has Dr Seuss been more fun. (Age 4 and over) --Susan Harrison

Scrooge for Kids
Maybe that's oversimplifying a bit, but the basics are the same. In this story, we have the Grinch, who hates Christmas and every year must put up with the celebration of the Whos who live in the valley below his cave. But this year things will be different. This year, he intends to do something about it. Surely the Whos will be disappointed when they wake up Christmas morning to discover that all their presents and decorations have been stolen. Or will they?
Told is classic Seuss fashion, completely in rhymes, this book appeals to kids year round. I know I insisted that it be read to me more then just in December. The fanciful illustrations, also classic Seuss, are just as engaging as this story. After all, what could be worse to kids then no Christmas? Yet there is a message here that there is more to Christmas then the commercialism we see around us. It’s subtle and not expanded on greatly, but it’s there none-the-less.
Surely Charles Dickens' classic tale was an influence when Dr. Seuss sat down to write this book. Both the main characters hate Christmas and miss the point, but have a revelation that shows them how important Christmas really is. Of course, the meat of the stories is completely different, so kids not ready for Dickens will love this one.
If there is such a thing as a classic picture book, this belongs in that category. Enjoyable at Christmas, or the whole year round.
Grumpy Grinch?
Characters:
The Grinch, Cindy-Lou Who, the Whovilles and Max the Dog are the characters in the book.
Plot:
The Grinch hates Christmas, the Whovilles love it. The Grinch hates the Christmas feast, the noise of the children and he especially hates the singing. He wants to get rid of Christmas once and for all. Suddenly, Grinch has an awful idea - he would steal anything and everything to do with Christmas. So he dressed up as Santa Claus and put a horn and a red nose on Max, then on Christmas Eve he got into his sled and off he went to take all the presents. At his first house he starts taking things and when only the tree is left, Cindy Lou who is barely two wakes up! She asks the Grinch "Santa, where are you taking our Christmas to? The Grinch thinks quick and snappy and lies that he is taking it to fix a light bulb at his workshop...
Favourite:
I like this book because it all rhymes the whole way through.
Worst Part:
I think it is not nice that the Grinch left only a crumb to small for a mouse!
For:
Everyone would love this brilliant piece of work by the author of The Cat in the Hat.
Entertaining and humour for yongsters and adults alike!
I purchased this book for a 3 year old. It was enjoyed not only by a 3 year old but also by an adult! A truely magical story written in an amazing style for all ages and simple but colourful pictures. Dr Seuss books are a must for any child and make reading an enjoyment!
