Customer Reviews

Great book, everything you need perfectly organized5
Today I received my new "American Heritage" 4th edition
book-dictionary (who would expect from all people me to prefer a book over a CD...)... Anyway. ***GREAT*** one. Even if you fell you have no unknown words just leaf through the pages and you will be charmed by the ammount of words, their usage suggestions and the *EXTRODINARY* ammount of words / pictures / informations.
And the best part (call me a linguist-freak) is the HUGE perfectly organized ammount of linguistic commentary, connecting words with Indo-European languages (even my favorite Irish) :)
I'm charmed by a dictionary....

Excellent up-to-date resource4
The American Heritage Dictionary is an excellent resource for current American English. The definitions are clear, precise, and are supplemented with usage notes. A panel of linguists and wordsmiths were consulted on the inclusion of new words or usage, and the inclusion of their often pithy comments adds valuable insight on usage. The dictionary is also nicely laid out and thus not tiring on the eyes.

One of the best dictionaries recently published5
I am writing a book about contemporary English dictionaries for Russian students studying Russian.I want to include information about American Heritage Dictionaries.Could you send me a catalogue of AHD published recently and for 1999 Could I also have a free inspection copy of this dictionary to write an overview of it in Russian journal? Thank you.The addr.DrOlga Karpova,Universitetet i Oslo Instituut for nordistikk og literaturvitenskap,Blindern p.b.1001, N-0315 Oslo, Norway
