Editorial Reviews
From the Back Cover
Neros personality and crimes have always intrigued historians and writers of fiction. However, his reign also illuminates the nature of the Augustan Principate. Most fascinating to historians of the Roman Empire is Neros final collapse which brought to an end the dynasty Augustus had founded, and placed in jeopardy the political system he had devised.
Customer Reviews
Acadmic, but well written and very readable
Whilst I must declare an interest - I was tutored by the author at Oxford - this must rate as one of the most informative (published) books about any classical subject I have ever read.
It covers all the major topics of his life and cogently and sensibly argues for the author's points of view.
