'Better Behaviour in Classrooms is an impressive distillation of mostly practical approaches. It starts with a worthy ... account of the structure of the brain, then ... some excellent ideas on why we must engage with the student culture and how to promote high achievement through praise and involvement.' - Geoff Barton, Times Educational Supplement

'Teachers wishing to obtain a greater understanding of pupil behaviour and schools wishing to instigate an effective whole school approach to these issues will find this resource a sound starting point.' - Jerry Glazier, Education Review, NUT

From the Back Cover
Better Behaviour in Classrooms provides a professional and sympathetic approach to the difficulties presented by disruptive behaviour, and offers a range of tried and tested strategies to help teachers develop a whole school approach to behaviour management.
By drawing on their considerable experiences of dealing with children's emotional and behavioural difficulties, the authors acknowledge existing good practice and seek to build on it, showing how every teacher can improve their skills through a planned and stepped programme. The book provides a practical overview of whole-school behavioural patterns and a detailed focus on individual classroom interactions, explaining how prediction skills can be used to plan an effective behaviour management strategy.

The book also includes helpful photocopiable resources and training materials for use with staff groups or individuals. It is an invaluable resource for all newly-qualified and established teachers concerned about behaviour. Head teachers, se

Customer Reviews

Difficult subject, easy reading.5
This book is a breath of fresh air for all teachers in today's society. Dealing with behavioural problems can take up a huge and valuable portion of any class. This book has helped me gain confidence and a better understanding of disruptive pupils. It's accessible, intelligent, practical and fun without being pretentious or patronising. I could have benefited from this book at the start of my career. If you don't believe me you can come and see me after class.

There's also some hilarious illustrations.
