About the Author

Peter Childs is Professor in Modern English at the University of Gloucestershire. He is the author of many books on literature post-1900, including The Twentieth Century in Poetry (1998).

Good basic starting point
This is a good starting point for those who know very little of Modernism and need a good basic point. It is ideal for students who are not that are confused by the subject but require basic definitions.
It works a bit like a beginners dictionary to Modernism, providing very general and not very deep definitions or descriptions of many of the great modernist works and writers.
If you just want a brief idea of what Modernism is this is the book for you, but if you are wishing to develop any knowledge of modernism, avoid at all costs.
