Excellent, a fantastic introduction to Shakespeare.
Leon Garfield has turned six of Shakespeare's plays into short, accessable stories. The narrative is simplistic yet Garfield integrates original Shakespearean text seamlessly into plot and dialogue. For children and adults alike, this is a fantastic and accessable introduction to Shakespeare's language and text. As a trainee English teacher I am constantly looking for new and innovative ways to introduce the bard and his works to the classroom. From the many "story" versions I have read, this is definately my favourite. The author retains the excitement, tension and humour (where applicable)of the originals whilst providing a fresh and challenging rendition of narrative. I suspect this is one small book which will become indespensable!
