Customer Reviews
Did I get a dud copy?
I'm not overjoyed with this book. There are loads of typos which can be confusing at times. Also, some of the resources that should be on the CD-ROM aren't there.
On the plus side, the CD-ROM is useful if you have an interactive whiteboard. It has games, text extracts etc.
Generally, this is okay to help guide your planning but I wouldn't rely on it too much. I think there are better resources to help with planning on the internet. Since the start of this academic year I've only used this to teach one unit.
Really useful book
I'm an NQT and when faced with the daunting prospect of planning literacy this book as been such a help. At the moment, I am literally planning from the book, but I know that even when I get a handle on my class and my teaching this book will still be able to help, and is so worth its money!
Brilliant for Non-specialists
As a non specialist, teaching in a Middle school, I found this book really useful. The lessons are easy to follow and the resources are all there either in the book or on the CD rom. The only problem is that you do need to differentiate the activities, especially for lower sets, so a bit of organisation is needed. But, to be honest, I don't know how I would have coped without it.
