Fancy a date with Dracula's charming nephew?5
Meet Arkady Tsepesh. He's tall, dark and handsome. He's immaculately well bred and has a family tree that could have devoured all of Budapest and most of Europe. What's more, this dude has a good soul, unlike his (in)famous great uncle.

I found the novel at the bottom of a B-movie pit for the poor; I picked it up since catching up on your shoddy vampire lit is just the thing to do on a lone, shivery night while nursing a glass of vintage chianti and pretending it's something else entirely. I bought the book because I found it amusing that someone should actually take Stocker's classic one step further and breathe life into his less discerning ancestors.

I was truly surprised by how good it is. Jeanne Kalogridis must be one brave lady to not only adopt Stocker's theme and make it her own - but to use the same method of writing in the form of diary entries to unfold the plot. This is not your average Vampyre Erotica poppycock. If anything, it is exceedingly well written and makes quite a disturbing read. More please, Jeanne.

one of the best vampire novels I have read!5
I grabbed a copy of this book at a secondhand book store, after taking a shining to the front of the book cover. (I know never judge a book by its cover!) Once I started reading, I could not put it down until I had devoured it..People are going to hate me for saying this, but yes I think it is better than the original Dracula novel. It is extremely well written, you can tell she has spent some dedicated time researching. Her angle to this classic story is just more interesting, as the story is told through the diary of several characters. She has made some really credible background history on characters such as Van Helsing and Elizabeth Bathory.
My only complaint is, I found it difficult to find the other two installments of this trilogy, until I discovered Amazon.. I highly recommend you read the entire lot!

A surprising twist on a brilliant Classic5
This book was truly worth the 5 stars and all the praise heaped apon it. This novel is a wonderful and surprising original take on the family Dracul before the events of 'Dracula' and readers', you are in for a treat!

Arkady Tsepesh, Great-Nephew to Prince 'Vlad' (infact the malovent Count himself) moves back to his historical family home in Tranylvania with his English wife - Mary Windham Tsepesh - for the birth of their first-born child, and to mourn the catalyst for all further events in the book - his father's death and subsiquent taking-over of his families' estates and monies.

The Novel takes on the form of seperate Diaries in the respective turns of Arkady Tsepesh, Mary Windham Tsepesh and Zsusanna Tsepesh and holds true to the form of Stokers's 'Dracula' Indeed this novel serves a Prolouge to the Classic.

Havoc ensues as Arkady unvails dark family secrets and pacts with the Strigoi upheld for centuries. For the sake of his wife and child he must barter with the Devil in disguise.

This is a must-read for any with a liking for vampire epics. This is a truly talented author who offers page-turning antics without rest through out the whole book. I can't wait to purchase the other two instalment in the trilogy.

Truly, honestly, Bravo Jean!
