Editorial Reviews
Review
"There is no doubt that this book has a very broad coverage, and that, in itself, will be attractive to the student revising for exams. This textbook will not only be a valuable addition to dental school libraries, but at the price of A21.99 will also find itself on many an undergraduate and postgraduate student's bookshelf." "L. Brocklebank," British Dental Journal, December 2003
book is an easy read and makes referrals simple.
Overall this book should be recommended to undergraduate students as a very useful aid to accompany their handouts and textbooks. Senior house officers may find this book time saving as a referral, and a GDP may wish to update his or her knowledge by dipping into this book." "Dr Karim Jaafary," Dental Practice, September 2003
core learning with self-assessment in an accessible, easy-to-use format. It offers an effective method for reviewing and studying the essential clinical knowledge dental students need to know for final exams." Good, but will need more texts for dental finals
This is a good book, and covers just about everything you'll need in an incredibly digestible format for surgery and its coverage of radiation protection is much easier to digest than other texts that I've found.
But a word of warning, if you're like me and require a bit of understanding to learn, you'll want to supplement the text with another oral medicine textbook such as 'Essentials of Oral Medicine' by Cawson and Odell.
Further, whilst its descriptive diagrams are fantastic, photographs are sorely lacking, I'd suggest 'Color Atlas of Common Oral Diseases' by Langlais and Miller to suit this need.
Overall it is a good, useful book, and definitely concise, but don't buy it thinking it'll be your only purchase.
dissappointing
i was frankly dissappointed by this book. although very concise and easy to read, it covered some topics very vaguely. i found myself turning to other books to supplement all reading. although i got through my last set of exams with the aid of this book, it only played a very small part to my success. it does however have very good questions and answers at the end of each chapter. this i cannot fault at all, probably the most use i found out of it. but do take caution if you buy this book on the intention of reading/revising from no other....
