Customer Reviews

An excellent book for the busy trainer4
This is an excellent book when a tutorial is needed at short notice and covers common general practice problems. Each tutorial is set out in a logical manner and learning points emphasized. The book contains over thirty tutorials and has some multiple choice questions at the end based on the individual chapters. Unfortunately no references are listed nor papers quoted which would make it even more useful for MRCGP candidates.

new edition please!5
This is a great book for anyone going into general practice but most importantly for any medical student about to do a GP placement.
The most common presentations are covered simply but thoroughly with differentials, important questions to be asked or features to look out for and so are the different treatment options with an evidence based explanation.

The presentations are illustrated with short cases of 'Mr X comes complaining of this that and the other' followed by questions of 'what could be wrong with him?' which the author then goes on to answer. This method means its not the same as reading through long boring text books as there is more context.

A book which is short, sweet and very useful. I just wish they would put out a new editions (not that this is 20 years old or anything) to give me a sense of confidence that what im saying is still accurate when i start quoting things to my examiners!
